    Abstract
The Case study building was designed and built in 2003.  The building is a single storey rectangular shaped 25m x 21m steel portal frame structure with precast concrete panels.  The building is typical of a modern commercial building in New Zealand. The building was assessed to have a seismic rating below 34%NBS(IL2) and is in the process of being strengthened. This paper will suggest a process for how to go about completing a review of this type of building and discuss some of the things to watch out for.  Options for strengthening are also briefly discussed.
